Prompt: “Incorporate a miniature”
N⁸, Red Maienza
Red Maienza
In my daily writing practice as a poet, I have been attempting to adopt a “less is more” mentality (mainly in order to prove to myself that I can). My natural tendency is to present a reader with long-winded narratives that craft the world of emotion within a poem. In playing with haiku, I force myself to stick to the confines of 17 syllables to get my point across. Meanwhile, in my personal healing practice, I have been reflecting on my journey through three years of eating disorder recovery. This prompt sparked a question I’ve been asking myself privately - was the act of engaging with my illness ever truly about making myself smaller? Or did I want to create distance between myself and everything around me?”

On occasion the most enjoyable vacation is one we take from reality to partake in the delicacies of absurdity.
Enjoy each moment, a morsel.
Leaving one wanting,
waiting,
wondering,
“¿Why?”
