I was inspired by the idea of how we see ourselves and the way we think the world perceives us. How we may try to conform, distort or re-shape ourselves to be viewed as likeable or pleasant in others eyes.

I thought about the distortion of words, how repeating something over and over can strip away its meaning. I also thought about the distortion of art today, and how it seems an artist's worth is measured in dollars. A distorted George Washington is here to remind us, with some cartoonish cynicism, that we made it all up.
