Prompt: “Where you hide your weapons”
Robin Carlson
“I thought about what weapons I use if ever, and they are all weapons I use to protect my peace and the values I hold dear. I keep these weapons in my heart, only using them when feelings of unrest, resentment, irritability, or even hatred arise. Acceptance, gratitude, and mindfulness are all "weapons" I use to combat threats. Being that these are not physical objects, I turned to more tangible "weapons" to fill my heart shaped box. Poking fun at serious topics is one of the ways I cope with the magnitude of life, so I used a tiny TNT, poison vile, kitchen knife, and rope to represent the tools I use to cope. Making these reminded me of board game pieces, specifically Clue, which in its way also pokes fun at another serious topic: murder. This piece measures 1.5"x2"x1" and each miniature is between 1/2" and 1".”
